McLean Health Center Residents Keeping Connected with Skype

McLean Health Center is very fortunate to have the Sorenson Center and fund which supports keeping seniors connected to the world. Sorenson Center Media Coordinator Stephen Root works with residents and families to help them connect with Skype.

McLean residents SkypeA good example of this is how Maxine Rice, 86 years young, is starting to speak with and see her son each week. At a family meeting, Maxine’s son Stephen learned that McLean could connect his mother and him via Skype. During their first conversation, Stephen and his wife and two dogs sat comfortably in their living room and chatted with Maxine in Simsbury.

A Celebration of Song and Youthful Voices at McLean

Darling Fellows at McLeanTalented high school students brought joy to McLean residents, staff and patients at the Third Annual Ensign Darling Vocal Fellowship Holiday Performance. The Ensign-Darling Vocal Fellowship at The Bushnell was created by Bob Darling, a long-time Simsbury resident, to provide vocal scholarships to talented high school students. The Fellowship provides monthly Master Classes taught by vocal professionals offering instruction in Classical, Musical Theater and Cabaret repertoire, and weekly private instructions. Blending together two of Bob’s favorite charities, the Holiday Concert is now held at McLean in December, and the final performance at The Bushnell in June. Sharing in the family legacy were also Terry and Elizabeth Darling, Bob’s son and daughter-in-law, and Mary Darling, Bob’s widow.
