McLean Health Center Nurses Will be Singin' in the Rain…

Nurses Week at McLean HomeHow do you thank dedicated nurses for their hard work throughout the year? This is an annual challenge for the McLean Health Center. The leaders came up with a creative idea this year. They ordered umbrellas for the dozens of nurses who work with the post acute patients and long term residents in the nursing home in Simsbury.

The surprise gifts were personally delivered to each nurse thanking him or her for their commitment to exceptional person-centered care and their part in making McLean a 5 star nursing home under Medicare. McLean was delighted with the response. They loved them. Many said it was the best gift they had been given over the years. The photos show how much they enjoyed using them as parasols in the sun, but you can be sure they will be singin’ in the rain…that’s just the positive caregivers and people that they are.

Where were you December 7th 1941?

WWII memorabilia brings back memories at McLeanAfter setting up an amazing collection of WWI memorabilia Grace Durgin of Granby has collected, she asked “Where were you December 7th 1941?” Residents of the Birchview and Skyview Terrace neighborhoods in McLean Home immediately starting telling her their whereabouts that fateful day.  Grace’s visit is one of several WW II reminisce activities during this week before Memorial Day.WWI remembered at McLean Home

McLean Home Celebrates National Nursing Home Week

Nursing Home WeekMcLean held a special reception in the Health Center for residents, patients, family members, staff and special guests so they all could receive thank you’s from the leadership. “It takes a dedicated partnership of all of us to consistently achieve the top 5 star Medicare rating,” explained David Bordonaro, President. “To recognize this, we had a simple reception, enjoyed star shaped sugar cookies and reminded everyone what a special place McLean is and what special people they all are. We are all proud to be part of the McLean team that delivers exceptional short term rehabilitation and long term care.”

Chickens and Ducks Arrive on Skyview Terrace

chickens on the rooftop terrace at McLeanA highlight of spring for the residents of the Health Center Skyview Terrace and Birch View neighborhoods is when their favorite volunteer family brings in chickens to pat. This year they also brought in two ducks who loved pecking in the Rooftop Garden but not being patted. It was a beautiful sunny warm day on the rooftop garden. The residents delighted in the visit with the pets.
