Students Spend a Day at McLean to Explore a Career Path in Healthcare

A group of nine High School Juniors and Seniors from The Master’s School visited McLean on Monday, November 10, for a Job Shadow Day sponsored by the Simsbury Chamber of Commerce. Mentors Robyn Ligotti, PT, DPT, Director of Post-Acute and Rehab Services and Diane Bristol, RN, Director of Nursing, hosted this event along with McLean’s nurses, C.N.As, and physical therapists. The activities illustrated the daily responsibilities of a healthcare professional and were geared toward students who had expressed an interest in physical therapy and nursing.

The Simsbury Chamber of Commerce modeled their Job Shadow Day after a national effort to give students a better understanding of a desired career choice.  As an active member of the community, McLean was proud to participate and to highlight the importance of health care and rehabilitation services for the senior sector.

Robyn Ligotti commented, “We were thrilled to be a part of this day. To help kids understand the role they can play in helping others to live a healthy and active lifestyle is a wonderfully rewarding experience for us and a great benefit to them as they explore their career options.”
