Barbara and John Case, who have been married for 64 years, recently enjoyed a special Sweetheart Luncheon at McLean.
With almost 66 years of marriage behind them, a couple is bound to have a few secrets to marital bliss. McLean residents, Viola and John Wells, recently shared a few of their secrets at a special Sweetheart Luncheon held at McLean on Valentine’s Day. “We met on the beach in Florida. John lived in Miami, and I lived in Connecticut. I went to Florida on a vacation and was introduced to John, and even though I already had a boyfriend, it was “love at first sight.” According to John, “he didn’t have a chance after she met me!” According to the Wells, their meeting each other was the best thing that ever could have happened.
Nestled beside the blazing fireplace, the Wells and four other couples enjoyed glasses of wine and a special meal prepared by McLean’s Dining Services Department - which included seafood bisque, a choice of either tenderloin with noodles or chicken francaise and a delicious chocolate lava cake with fresh strawberries for dessert.
Also celebrating their lasting love at the Sweetheart Luncheon were: Barbara and John Case (64 years of marriage); Betty and Melvin Reilly (66 years of marriage); Jean and Martin Dexheimer (63 years of marriage); and Bernice and Jack Lampert (62 years of marriage). All agreed that, over the years, married life had been good to them and, given the chance, they’d marry their sweethearts again.
