On-campus Services > Post Acute Care
A range of inpatient services from intensive rehabilitation to continuous medical monitoring for patients recovering from an acute care procedure, such as surgery for a hip or knee replacement, cardiac surgery, treatment for strokes or for patients who have become weak from an extended illness in hospital. We get you back on your feet and back to your life as quickly as possible.
It is standard today that following an illness or operation at a hospital, a person needs additional time to recover, but are not permitted that time in the hospital. The person is not yet ready to go home and needs more time to recover, and in some cases, stabilize medically. The patient requires intensive rehabilitation to get back to work and life.
McLean is proud of the exceptional reputation we have earned caring for the orthopedic patient who needs a rapid rehabilitation and short stay of 7 to 14 days. Our patient satisfaction ratings put us as #1 in the state among our peer not-for-profit facilities. Physical and occupational therapy, speech therapy, wound care, post-operative care and complex medical care are provided in a pleasant unit surrounded by the beautiful woodlands of the McLean campus.
We specialize in:
- Orthopedic rehabilitation
- Recovery from fractures, total hip and knee replacement surgery
- After stroke care
- Reconditioning after an illness
- Evaluation and management of geriatric conditions
Many physicians and case managers, however, do not know that McLean also welcomes:
- post surgical patients
- cardiac rehabilitation patients
- stroke rehabilitation patients
- others whose physicians and medical plans indicate a need for a longer stay before going home
McLean's average length of stay is consistently better than both regional and national averages. McLean's interdisciplinary team of care givers is lead by Dr. Robert Dicks, Medical Director. Dr. Dicks is a specialist in geriatrics and medicine with expertise in rehabilitation, and provides full time medical coverage of the facility.
In a pleasant country setting each room has a view of the outside so you can see the birds and wildlife. Rooms have cable TV access, VCRs and a telephone.
