Payment
All or part of Hospice services may be covered by private insurance or prepaid health plans. Medicare has special Hospice benefits for individuals who are patients in a Medicare certified Hospice program (like McLean). Should funds become exhausted, donations from individual, religious, business, corporate and civic organizations are available to help cover the cost of services provided to Hospice patients and families.
Entering Our Hospice Program
Referrals to Hospice may be made by the patient's attending physician, by a hospital social worker or discharge planner, or directly by the patient, a family member or friend. Those wishing to make a referral should contact McLean's Home Care Intake Department at 658-3950. A representative will discuss the nature of Hospice care and arrange for a visit by a nurse. If a hospital consultation is requested by the physician, Hospice will make arrangements for a nurse to visit the hospital.
Please call (860) 658-3950 for more information, or to make a referral.
